A ride in the beautiful southern city |

In the South, our people may be a little shocked.  There is a saying among some people, "Oh, don't even bring a kitten here from the Bentara Bridge."  People in our upcountry would like to come to the Southern Province and spend a holiday like that.  Because everyone loves the sea breeze.

So most people remember the name Galle when they say South. But do you know that South is the whole of the Benthara Bridge.  Galle, Matara and Hambantota are the three main districts in the South.  So here are some good places to go for a vacation in this big city?

Most of the people who come to the south go for more walks to the beach side. So here we have a wonderful world in the south beyond this beach side.

You went to see museums, didn't you?  But you know there is a maritime museum in Galle.  Galle is the only maritime museum in Sri Lanka as well as in South Asia. So this is a very special place.  This is a very special place located in the Dutch fort built in 1671.  Here you can see water vessels, marine ecosystems, mangroves and all the living and non-marine elements of the sea.  So if you come to Galle, don't forget to visit the Maritime Museum.

Also, the Morning Side is another place where we can go on vacation to the south.  This is in Deniyaya.  This area is also known as the Punch Horton Plains.  Anyone traveling from Colombo to Rakwana should take the A18 road and take the A17 road from Madampe Junction.  A17 is the most beautiful road to Galle via Madampe, Rakwana Deniyaya.  Surrounded by mountains, this place is a wonderful place to visit.

Hatmale Falls is another place to visit in the south.  Known as the Ging River Butterfly, it is located at a distance of about 12 km from Deniyaya.  This is also part of the Lion King Forest.  This place can be reached by crossing the road from Pallegama to Kolavenigama.  Many endangered species have even been found in the area.  This is really a beautiful area

Along the way we can also visit the ancient Hiyare Reservoir.  Since many people do not know about these places, how nice it would be to get away from the beach every day and see places of such importance.  Hiyare is the oldest reservoir to the south.  The Hiyare Reservoir covers an area of 48 acres and supplies water to the entire city of Galle.  Today, the densely forested area is home to the Bro Mandel Mountains, a dumping ground for thousands of people.

So many of these places, even for educational significance, are so memorable to see if you come to the South
